one hour photo: dimitri karakostas

one hour photo is an idea for a tenative new weekly column. it's pretty straightforward: unseen photos fresh from wal-mart/your corner drugstore/wherever you get them processed, straight to the blog. ideally, this is to showcase new work, not overposted favorites. this is what we want, and we want you to be into this.

Blood of the Blog Sunday

The Wizard Gang
what can i say really about this blog? i check it on the daily. its mostly all videos, is always full of quality content from some quality people. my mom doesn't think its funny, which is how you know its good. wzrd or die!

Jesi the Elder
this PERSON i don't know 'in real life' and i likely haven't met their sister either. anyways, JESI does insane animations (GOOGLE THAT SHIT FOR DD/MM/YYYY & FINAL FANTASY) and JESI'S blog is pretty enthralling for a 'personal' one. i like it lots, no homo.

If you want us to check out your blog for Blood of the Blog Sundays just send an email or leave your link in the comments.

BOTY Review: Ye Rin Mok

Ye Rin Mok is a photographer from Seoul living in L.A. She has shot great photos for a whole ton of magazines you probably read like Spin, XLR8R, Bust, and Nylon to name a few. She just put out a new zine and sent one over for us to check out.

Okay, so, Its called Ichikawadaimon. 32 pages, full color laser. signed and numbered edition of 100 and comes with a c-print. pretty sweet.
The photos are from her trip to rural Japan last fall. The colors in her photos are all really saturated and have a lot of good tone. This is a really nice zine! Anyways, here are a couple pages from it.

You can get one here on Etsy, or if you're broke like me, go look at more photos at yerinmok.com or on flickr.

Alexander Binder

Wow.

This guy is truly a beast. So DIY with pinhole dslrs and home-made lenses, but FUCK does it really shine through in his work. He creates the haunting images you wish you could with your LC-A, but no, you just CAN'T IMITATE. A good eye and an excellent brain are two things that you don't stumble upon often, and this guy has both in droves.

He recently updated his portfolio, and 'it gives you a complete overview of all the stuff i created in the last years - from photo-series to artist books, light-boxes, prints and framed works.'
So, so stoked.

Go check it out and buy a book or something. Expect to see lots of him in the future.

Kara Crabbe

I met Kara Crabbe once. I told her my name was Enrique and laughed and that was the extent of our knowing each other. I later found out she does good things and have been filled with remorse ever since.

blood of the blog sundays: maggie lee and kelly smith

Maggie Lee, Vice cover photographer and often contributor, has one of my favorite blogs around probably. Teenangsty+true, always very good stimulation. You know!!!
SUP MAGGIE LEE

Kelly Smith, secret Windsorite, avid Radiohead enthusist, does things sometimes in her sketchbook I guess and posts them infrequently, but in bulk. Her drawings are on point, secretly want to do some sort of mail/in real life trade with her because I want Amy Winehouse on my wall. Her flickr also kills my life, so yeah, go browse buttholes!!

HOUSTON I AM THE PROBLEM
i'm doing this every sunday now, so if you think your blog is cool/sucks, drop it in the comments! punk as fuck.

a couple words with Michael J Demeo

Who: Michael J Demeo. i'm 27. during the day i work in a warehouse. at night i curate photo for sugar gallery in portland oregon.

What: trying to make reality into a fantasy

When: every single minute of every day

Where: one summer after two years of hitch hitchhiking I ended up in portland oregon. that was six years ago, ive been stuck here ever since... help...

Why: i try and bring the viewer into my world. i've come to find that the way i process life is a bit more dramatically than most. i see everything theatrically and way over-acted. this does not mean that i am not terribly terribly bored....

How: "take a look at this weird piece of shit broken oh wait its actually an amazing old rare high end camera" from the thrift store...let's shove it down my pants

awesome! more from Mr. Demeo at michaeljdemeo.com and on flickr.
