Hella Dayz

My man Juan from Comadre dropped me a line to say hello. They are going on European and West coast tours soon and are putting out a split release with Glasses from Germany as well. Go check them out, you won't regret it.
Juan also sent along some photos - a mix of things from last summer and winter. He says they are "the two best seasons."

Thanks Juan! Stay punk

Residual Energy

Here's some more of my favourite mail. Ryan De La Hoz was awesome enough to send over his new zine Residual Energy and its great.

Residual Energy is a nice magazine sized collection of drawings, photos, comics, and optical illusions. Ryan's work is great and this is a really fun zine. 24 pages printed by Magcloud or whatever.

This first piece on the left is my favorite, but I'm guessing someone else bought it already. Bummer. In case you didn't already notice, Fecal Face posted some pictures from Ryan's zine release show at Gallery Heist a couple days ago right here.

Above is probably the best photo spread I have seen in a long long time.

So that's that. Ryan De La Hoz puts out a winner. You can get it here if you want. If you don't want to do that, you can go to the Double Punch Gallery website and watch videos of Ryan talk about products. It always gives me a laugh.

kareene gervier

Who?

I'm French girl and live in Bordeaux, France. I draw and sometimes do color for graphic novels to earn a little money.
Otherwise, I like music, concerts, dancing, watching the sun come up and listening to Suicide when I go to bed.

Where?

On my couch, between the fridge and the TV, listening to music and smoking cigarettes--I'm crazy about them!

How?

Pen and ink, colored pencils, markers, white-out, India ink; not too many oils or watercolors since they aren't pratical to use while lying on the couch.

What?

A lot of cars, daggers, dogs, lovers, coded or hidden messages. I'm especially inspired by the music I listen to, mostly garage rock. In France, Bordeaux is the city of rock 'n roll and that's why I live here.

When?

At night.

Why?

It's the best thing I've found (along with alcohol!) to express myself, calm down, or just forget everything. I like it and need it more and more.

Her illustrations are at the top of my 'to get tattooed' list.

Drugs Are A Helluva Drugs

My mailbox has been full for the last few months and over the next little while I'm going to be posting a bunch of my favorite mail. First off, Kilroy Savage's zine Drugs Are A Helluva Drugs. It blew me away.

Drugs is a super thick colour zine with bonus stuff literally falling out of it. The covers are hand printed, punched, and each one has different secret stuff. 66 pages of photos/collage/found images/drawings/paintings.

My copy of the zine came in a sealed bag with this stylish pink du rag, some New Kids On The Block trading cards, and some 1" buttons with Saddam Hussein on them.

There's also a lot of stickers, prints, Iraqi money, and hand drawing through out. Each issue is unique. So cool.

So that's that. Kilroy Savage is the man. Check out his blog. You can get a copy of this zine right here.
